TOWERS - TÜRME - TOURS - TORRI

About fifteen of Bologna's medieval towers and house towers still stand ( they were about 100 in the 13th century). However the most striking ones are the Asinelli and the Garisenda towers, both begun in the late 11th century.

Originally they both were about 60 metres high, but the Asinelli tower was soon raised to its present height of about 89 metres ( 97.2 at the top of the bellfry).

The Garisenda tower, which Dante saw at its original height, was, however, cut down to its present height ( about 47 metres) for fear of a sudden collapse, because of a settling of the ground.

These two towers are both leaning: The Asinelli is 2.40 m. out of line, and the Garisenda de m. 3.20.

Other towers that can be seen in the pictures are: Prendiparte, Azzoguidi, Uguzzoni.

Ungefähr fünfzig mittelalterliche Türme und Haus-Türme stehen noch in Bologna ( es gab ungefähr 100 während des 13. Jahrhunderts). Aber die überraschendsten sind der Asinelli und der Garisenda, die am Ende des 11. Jahrhunderts gebaut wurden.

Am Anfang waren sie beide ungefähr 60 m. hoch, aber der Asinelli Turm wurde schnell auf die aktuelle Höhe gebaut: 89 m. ( 97,2 an der Spitze des Glockenturmes).

Der Garisenda Turm, den Dante in seiner richtigen Höhe sah, wurde auf ungefähr 47 m. abgetragen, man befürchte einen plötzlichen Einsturz, weil der Boden einsank.

Diese zwei Türme sind beide nicht im Lot: der Asinelli um 2,40 m., der Garisenda um 3.20 m.

Andere Türme, die man in den Bilden sehen kann sind: Prendiparte, Azzoguidi, Uguzzoni.

Parmi la quinzaine de tours qui sont restées des environ cent tours et maison-tours du Moyen -Age à Bologne, la tour Asinelli et la Garisenda sont les plus frappantes pour leur originalité. On a commencé a les bâtir pendant les vingt dernières années du siècle XI

D'abord leur hauteur était d'environ 60 mètres, mais la Asinelli fut vîte portèe à l'hauteur actuelle d'environ 89 mètres ( 97,2 du sommet de la tour de la cloche).

La Garisenda, que Dante avait vu de l'hauteur originaire a été baissée à l'hauteur actuelle de 47 mètres par crainte d'un écroulement, dû au tassement du terrain.

Ces deux tours sont penchants: la Asinelli de 2,40 m., la Garisenda de 3,20 m.

Fra la quindicina di torri bolognesi superstiti delle circa cento fra torri e casetorri di età medievale, s'impongono per la loro singolarità l'Asinelli e la Garisenda, iniziate entrambe nell'ultimo ventennio del secolo XI.

In origine erano alte entrambe circa 60 metri, ma dopo breve tempo l'Asinelli venne portata all'altezza attuale di circa 89 metri ( 97,2 metri alla cima della torricella della campana).

La Garisenda, che Dante aveva visto nell'altezza originaria fu abbassata all'altezza attuale di m. 47 per timore di un crollo improvviso, a causa di un cedimento del terreno.

Queste due torri sono entrambe pendenti: l'Asinelli pende di 2,40 m., la Garisenda di m.3.20.
